Being Santa is an AMAZING experience. It's a little difficult to really describe to those who have not experienced the magic of wearing The Suit. It is Ralphie at the department store. It is babies who held my fingers and fell asleep in my arms. It is children of all ages who kicked and cried and wouldn't let go of or hid behind parents. It is children of all ages who burst through the door, ran twenty feet across the room, and lept into my lap. It is introverts and extroverts. There are neurodivigents including the autistic teen who's parents apologized profusely that their child wouldn't interact but then broke into tears and open mouthed awe when they did. There are long lists of wishes and whispered polite asks. There are hugs and moments of pure radiant joyfulness. There was a sad emo teen who was obviously only there because made by the parents who relented to the kindness of Santa to smile for a photo, "fine" (cue heavy sighing but also an odd confused look at Santa that said a lot). The was an elderly latina grandmother who didn't seem to speak any English but insisted on holding my hand as her family began to leave and kissed my glove in what profoundly felt to be thanks ,,,,,,,,,,,
I could go on and on describing the encounters I've had as Santa but no matter how I try there will still be something deep and intense lacking in the descriptions. Merry Yule!
Blessed Be
